Giving Hope

We could not be thinking of the humanitarian crisis and the thousands of refugees making their way to Greece. With more than 50,000 refugees currently in our country we are constantly trying to find ways to alleviate their pain and help the Greek NGO’s help the people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. At “Giving Hope” event our 220 volunteers of all ages aimed to prepare necessary items for the underage unaccompanied refugees living in camps. Once again, volunteers were allocated in teams to prepare 200 playtime kits, blankets & pillows to help recipients survive the winter & packages of food. Through our discussion with Metadrasis, an NGO that facilitates the reception and integration of refugees and migrants in Greece, we realized the importance of making these packages with goods as lightweight as possible so as to facilitate the kids carrying them as they so often need to be moved to another camp. Sometimes we just need these reminders to be grateful for the lives we have.
