During a meeting with SOS Children’s Village we found out that they were in desperate need of preparing a house as four children had recently joined them and needed a home. The building was there but was completely empty. The idea of the “Colorful Dreams” event was born and some weeks later we gathered 110 volunteers to furnish and equip a house of SOS Children’s Village as well as to organize the food-toy-clothes storages, paint exterior walls, & run a “lambada” workshop for the SOS kids just in time for Easter. Furnish and decorating a whole empty house in a few hours was a challenging task but the cause itself and the number of volunteers working on it combined with the right planning gave us the strength and courage to accomplish our mission. The children who would eventually live in the house had been asked what theme they would like to have in their room and we made sure to make their dream a reality. Volunteers had to bring to life the requested themes by creating corresponding paintings, allocating toys and books, assembling the furniture and decorating the rooms. Other volunteers were responsible for planting the garden and generally prepare the outdoor area. We will never forget the look in the eyes of the children getting in the house and their rooms as well as their gratitude. Really proud to have orchestrated such an act of kindness.
