Data Center Opening Event

Digital Realty’s HER1 data center in Heraklion, Crete is officially ready for operations and Crete is now on the map as a key hub for data exchange in Southeastern Europe, strengthening the region’s role in global digital connectivity.

A truly remarkable inauguration ceremony & event where Digital Realty had the pleasure of welcoming local and government representatives, colleagues from around the world, partners, and customers to celebrate this important milestone.

Construction took three days, with suppliers arriving from Athens as well as top-tier professionals from Crete’s local event industry. The event flow and stage set changes were executed flawlessly, thanks to the outstanding collaboration among all stakeholders.

Pre-opening welcome dinner at the Mitsis Rinela Hotel, featuring local entertainment, tsipoura, and traditional delicacies that brought the vibrant spirit, rich flavors, and aromas of Crete to life for the international guests and journalists who had traveled for the occasion.
